Cereal For Dinner

Cereal For Dinner

It has been an incredibly busy week for me. On more than one night I've come home late, exhausted and hungry. The last thing I've wanted to do is cook. I know! Impossible to believe but sadly it's true.

So where is an exhausted, hungry girl to turn for a quick and healthy dinner? Well, this girl turns to cereal. And somewhere my mom's head is spinning. She would tell me, while shaking a finger, that cereal should only be eaten for breakfast. But why not have cereal for dinner?

No, really. In a pinch, cereal is a great choice for dinner. I choose a healthy one like Multigrain Cheerios and make it with skim milk. I also add some sliced banana, blackberries, raspberries and a drizzle of honey. Delicious! Cereal is healthy, balanced, simple to prepare and the clean up is easy.

So, what do you think? Do you ever have breakfast food for dinner? What are your favourites?

I love making pancakes with bacon and sugar free surup. I also like making french toast with an orange cream cheese filling (will blog that soon).

Breakfast for dinner is a must ever so often!

Your cereal looks delish!

Breakfast for Dinner always feels classy, because growing up it seemed so special. Can't go wrong. For the life of me I don't know why a restaurant wouldn't at least have a night where that's all they serve.

As for Cereal, ALWAYS a great treat. The only disagreement we have is that I prefer it plain to your idea of putting it in water.

Know what's really great? MOVIE CEREAL. You sneak some cups in and munch on the Cap'n or the some corn pops; it's sugary, much cheaper than candy, lower in fat, and fits in the cup-holder and doesn't make a mess. = Awesome.

I often do this, I make my own home made muesli and yogurt and like you add fruit - its nutritious, scrumptious and quick on a late return home from a hard day at work

I have never been a fan of cold cereals (except for granola), but I do love eggs, and I'll have an omelette or an egg, cheese and bagel sandwich for dinner all the time, I did just that the other night, in fact. I had a tomato and feta omelette. :9

The cereal is a good and easy idea for dinner. Sometimes we'll make a big breakfast/dinner with eggs, bacon, potatoes.....heavy comfort food. Your cereal sounds much healthier.

This is my favorite post! I LOVE cereal! I really could eat it every day, every meal, except I love my veggies:) I choose health cereals and usually pair them with fruit too. Sometimes I do splurge and eat sugary cereals for dessert!

I can't eat breakfast for breakfast - if I eat before noon, my body gets very upset with me - so if I'm going to have it at all, it has to be for dinner!

I'm with you! Cereal is a totally acceptable dinner.

Now if I could only convice my hubby of that.

My Mom used to eat cereals for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a month or two, that's how much she loved it :). Yours looks delicious too!

Yes, I crave cereal for breakfast quite frequently. It is especially good for late night dinners as it is light and doesn't upset the tummy if one is trying to go to sleep right away.
In the colder months, warm oatmeal takes me right off into lullaby land. ;-)
